I remember reading of male couples adopting each other so they would legally have end-of-life rights for each other.
This is a lovely thing to stumble on (and, oops, read through in one sitting – how did that happen?). And lovely again to see it’s still ongoing! 20th century lesbian & wlw history is something I’ve thought I really should read up on at some point, and little references in this story I’m now very gripped by may well be the most fruitful inspiration to do so to date (sadly far outstripping in effect other ideas like ‘community responsibility’ or ‘the inherent worth of knowledge’). Thanks for a great story, I’m very excited to see where it goes!
